my name is laura bair and i am looking for my uncle. he was the first born child to my paternal grandparents who were not married at the time of the birth. my grandmother was "forced" to give the child up for adoption. this would have taken place in the mid-1930's.
i was told that she was sent to st. elizabeth's home for unwed mothers in beech grove, indiana.
her name was rosemary alice stevens-caplinger. my grandfathers name was carl luther caplinger. they are both deceased.
my family was told of the adoption about 5 years ago. i have only been casually searching for about 1 yr. now.
any information and/or resource would be very much appreciated.
i dont have any exact dates, only that the child was male and that the family (my great-grandparents) referred to him as sonny.

brown eyes and was 3 years old, hI last saw him in march of 66, he was wearing
green ski pants and a red and green checkered ski jacket with hood, he might
have a small scare on his upper left eye lid, where he fell on ice and cut his
eye. He was raised by an older couple who's children were grown from what I
heard and was probably living in Farmingdale or Farmington, Me. The last
picture I have of him was taken by the couple, he was about maybe 4, had a
stipe shirt on and long pants and was sitting cross legged on one leg.
I lost my husband in 2001 and desperptly want to find him before I die to tell
him the truth about his adoption, i was forced to give him up.
He has 2 sisters and 2 brothers, on his 1st. birthday I had a set of twins a
boy and a girl and a girl 2 yrs. later, and when she was about 5 mo. that's
when the state steped in and took him.

I gave birth to a baby girl in St. Louis University Hospital on either April
22 or April 23, 1969 (the exact time of the birth wasn't known to me because
I was in labor for 36 hours and she was born sometime during the middle of
the night). The name I gave her was Dawn Marie Derr. My maiden name was
Joanne Beth Derr. She was born with a heart defect and I spent a week in
the hospital with her after her birth, where I was allowed to hold and feed
her once a day. She was not eligible for adoption until August 1969.
Adoption was handled through the Catholic Charities in St. Louis and I
believe the case worker's name was Catherine Harleman or Hariman. I do not
know any further information and have been trying for years to locate her.
She has been in my heart and in my prayers daily for the past 33+ years.

ISO a half sister born at Hazleton St Joseph's Medical Center in the last half of 1970. Mother was Rose Powell, father was John Belusko. Mom was 15, dad was 16 at the time of birth. Adoption handled through an attorney in Philadelphia. We heard rumors that she may have been adopted by a Jewish family, possibly from New Jersey. This woman has two sisters (myself and Cindi) and two brothers (Andy and Jason). My missing sister has 5 nieces and 4 nephews so far. Also there are aunts and uncles, 4 half brothers and 6 half sisters, and our grandmother is still kicking (although not quite as high as she used to).

I'm ISO my older half-sister who was adopted out by my mother when she was a baby... her birth name was Amanda Marie aka Baby Girl Jones... born on August 29, 1979 in Hermiston Oregon at the Good Shepard/Shepherd? Hospital/Medical Center. The C-section was performed by Dr. Flaiz, and the anesthesiologist was Dr. Ledsworth. She was adopted out the same year I believe. The adoption agency that found her a family was the Adventist Adoption Agency in Pasco Washington (the tri-cities), and the address was 36 Sylvester St. It is no longer there however.It is believed that she was adopted by an apiscopalian couple- a doctor and a nurse- but we're not sure of this either. My mother still keeps Mandi's baby picture in her drawer- my mom's maiden name was Jones- Mandi's father's name was Fidel- I don't know his last name- but I think he was threatened with deportation if he didn't sign the adoption papers- he may have been deported anyway... my mother was 19 when she gave birth to Mandi.
